the photos i am considering for my final 5

WEEK 11

I created this piece today. I have been importing my pictures into painter and working on them with the apply lighting tool. I then played with the contrast and bright tools, the selection tools, cloner and now a smudge tool to help blend those sharp edges. The pictures are starting to come together and look like a real series, I am still developing the presentation ideas for the pieces but at this stage I am thinking about making the pictures a large scale photo series. I have modified the lighting in the picture again and made it just that little bit brighter to really bring out the features of the model as I felt before it was too dark and details were being missed. i have also put in a close up photo i have taken of Emmy and modified using the same tools as above all though this is a really nice photo I'm not sure if i will be using it in my final 5 pieces. i have also included the photo of emmy standing with one arm out. the same creative process was used with this photo and i believe its very successful. i really like the composition of the two figures and the tonal highlights in the picture. i really like how its very simple photo but the deatil is amazing.

week 10

I have completed 2 pieces of work today and i am pleased with what i have achieved. the first one i have attached has been edited in Corelle painter. i have used the clone tool, lighting and contrast and brightness settings to achieve this result. i had to edit the clone sources to a particular size before i could include them. the second is similar in the creative process and is clearly a part of a series. i really like how the photos are a little over exposed but very dark at the same time. i wanted to show the subject this way to convey the idea she is in a world consumed with only her self which can be a dark raw and real feeling. an artist that has kind of inspired my lighting style is Bill Henson. Henson uses very low lighting in his art work but highlight his subjects with light therefore standing out on the background. Henson's work has been seen as controversial is the past due to his subject matter but the quality of the work is undeniable.

Week 9

i did a photo shoot with my friend Emmy as the model. i used a digital SLR camera and found i got some great results. here are some of the photos i took above. i used a setting on the camera to only highlight certain colours. i edited the photos in painter and cloned in Emmy onto one photo 5 times. i found that my theme has deffinitly developed into some thing solid. i want to use the photos from the shoot to symbolise emmy is in a world consumed with only her self so ill be looking at including multiple emmys in finalised shots and also working the photos to a professional standard. some thing i have to think about is how am i going to display the photos. i also have filmed some fotage of the shoot i plan to edit in the next week.

week 8 - the moving image

this week Jenna asked us to find a video artist on the web site www.videoartworld.com that we found interesting. i found an artist called Garry Hill who bases most of his art on text and its relationship with electronic image. this is some infomation i found on the website about garry hill i found interesting
"His reading of the writings of Maurice Blanchot, in particular, provided him with ideas relating to the way in which language impinges on phenomenological experience, and a notion of 'the other' stemming from the philosophy of Emmanuel LĂ©vinas. Such reading informs Hill's visual-poetic explorations of the interrelationships between language, image, identity, and the body." (http://www.videoartworld.com/beta/artist_651.html) the picture i like the best is called
Rome, Flavian Amphitheater, June 11 2005it is shown above.

i have also decided i will be modifying my theme this week. i know for my video presentation i want to use areas in my home town called Montsalvat and the old aqueduct along with a friend to use as a model in the moving art. i don't want to give too much away of what I'm hoping to achieve but the idea has developed into a kind of forgotten bride type situation where a girl is dressed in a beautiful gown in an unfamiliar location completely alone and visibly upset.

week 7

Today we were continued using Corelle painter and using drawing tablets i used both the mouse and drawing tablets as the effects i wanted i could achieve with the mouse. This week i used the clone tool heaps i created a collage using 2 different sets of images and then combined them using the clone tool i also used the magic wand and paint bucket tools to create the finished back ground of the collage. I have began to use text alot in my art work and i think it works well. The picture on the left is supposed to be what a this couple see inside their mind. at the start the text just says ME ME ME and then goes to YOU ME YOU repeated 3 times but finishes again saying ME ME ME meaning that the person thinks at the beginning and end of every relationship about them selves. they all though are consumed with the idea of the other person but more often than not consumed with them selves more. the picture below was the back ground i created to use in the collage this was really fun to make and i found really built the idea up from just involving text. the incorporation of the photography gives the audience and insight into where the text thoughts are coming from.

Week 6

today we were introduced to Corelle painter nd used drawing tablets, this was interesting i found it difficult to move and draw pictures whilst looking at the screen as im used to looking at the paper. i really like the clone tool and used that a couple of times to have a play with the program i also like the watercolour tool and found i used it to create back grounds. i dont think i would use a drawing tablet in the future to draw detailed pictures however i think i would use it to create backgrounds with corelle painter for me to use as a base for other art works.
