week 10
I have completed 2 pieces of work today and i am pleased with what i have achieved. the first one i have attached has been edited in Corelle painter. i have used the clone tool, lighting and contrast and brightness settings to achieve this result. i had to edit the clone sources to a particular size before i could include them. the second is similar in the creative process and is clearly a part of a series. i really like how the photos are a little over exposed but very dark at the same time. i wanted to show the subject this way to convey the idea she is in a world consumed with only her self which can be a dark raw and real feeling. an artist that has kind of inspired my lighting style is Bill Henson. Henson uses very low lighting in his art work but highlight his subjects with light therefore standing out on the background. Henson's work has been seen as controversial is the past due to his subject matter but the quality of the work is undeniable.
Week 9
i did a photo shoot with my friend Emmy as the model. i used a digital SLR camera and found i got some great results. here are some of the photos i took above. i used a setting on the camera to only highlight certain colours. i edited the photos in painter and cloned in Emmy onto one photo 5 times. i found that my theme has deffinitly developed into some thing solid. i want to use the photos from the shoot to symbolise emmy is in a world consumed with only her self so ill be looking at including multiple emmys in finalised shots and also working the photos to a professional standard. some thing i have to think about is how am i going to display the photos. i also have filmed some fotage of the shoot i plan to edit in the next week.

week 8 - the moving image
this week Jenna asked us to find a video artist on the web site www.videoartworld.com that we found interesting. i found an artist called Garry Hill who bases most of his art on text and its relationship with electronic image. this is some infomation i found on the website about garry hill i found interesting
"His reading of the writings of Maurice Blanchot, in particular, provided him with ideas relating to the way in which language impinges on phenomenological experience, and a notion of 'the other' stemming from the philosophy of Emmanuel LĂ©vinas. Such reading informs Hill's visual-poetic explorations of the interrelationships between language, image, identity, and the body." (http://www.videoartworld.com/beta/artist_651.html) the picture i like the best is called Rome, Flavian Amphitheater, June 11 2005it is shown above.
i have also decided i will be modifying my theme this week. i know for my video presentation i want to use areas in my home town called Montsalvat and the old aqueduct along with a friend to use as a model in the moving art. i don't want to give too much away of what I'm hoping to achieve but the idea has developed into a kind of forgotten bride type situation where a girl is dressed in a beautiful gown in an unfamiliar location completely alone and visibly upset.
